The short version
Your photos and videos never leave your phone unless you share them yourself. Filters Camera has no accounts, no ads, and no servers storing your content. To learn which looks people use and to fix crashes, the app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland it does so only if you allow it, and anyone can turn it off in the app's Settings.
1. Who we are
Filters Camera is developed and operated by Nikolay Kovalskiy, an independent developer ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
2. Your photos and videos
Everything the camera captures is processed on your device. Filters render locally; photos and videos are saved to your device gallery and to the app's local library. We do not upload, receive, view, or store your content. There is no cloud.
3. Permissions the app asks for
Camera — required. It is a camera app; the permission is used only to show and capture the live feed.
Photos — used to save your shots to your device gallery. If you decline, your shots stay in the app's own library (My Shots) only.
Microphone — used to record the sound of your video clips.
Location (optional) — only if you allow it, the shooting location is written into the photo file's EXIF metadata on your device, so your own gallery can show where a shot was taken. The location is not sent to us or anyone else. Turn it off any time with "Save location (GPS)" in the app's Settings.
4. Usage statistics and crash reports
To see which looks and features people use, and to find and fix crashes, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google. Google processes this data on our behalf.
What is sent: which looks and presets are picked, which adjustments (such as brightness or sharpness) were changed on a saved shot, when a photo or video is saved or shared, the app language, and crash reports (device model, system version, app version and where the app crashed). Firebase also records standard app information on its own: when the app is opened or updated, how long it is used, the device model and system version, and a rough country or city worked out from your masked internet address. Each install gets a random identifier made by Firebase.
What is never sent: your photos and videos, your precise (GPS) location, your name or contacts, and the advertising identifier. The data is not used for advertising and not to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Settings from Google: the app also fetches a few settings from Firebase (for example which prices to show), using the same random install identifier.
Your choice: in the EU, the UK and Switzerland the app asks first, and nothing is sent or fetched until you allow it. Everywhere, you can turn it off any time with "Share usage data" in the app's Settings.
Where and how long: the data may be processed on Google servers outside your country, including the United States, under Google's data protection terms. Usage events are kept for at most 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.
No accounts, no registration, no email collection.
No advertising and no advertising SDKs.
No advertising identifier and no tracking across other companies' apps and websites.
No selling of personal data, to anyone.
This website is static and sets no cookies.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because your content stays on your device, deleting it is in your hands: delete photos from your gallery or the app, or uninstall the app to remove its local data. To stop usage statistics and crash reports, turn off "Share usage data" in Settings; to have the statistics tied to your install deleted, write to us.
7. Children
The app is rated 4+. It asks no one, children included, for personal information, and the usage statistics above contain no names, contacts, photos or location.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data. We hold no names or contact details, only statistics tied to a random install identifier, so most requests resolve to the steps above — but write to us and we will help: [email protected].
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's update notes.
